Civil Engineer Proposes To His GF Atop A Lifted Bridge They’d Worked On Together

In today’s age and time, proposals are nothing short of extraordinary. From taking your girlfriend on a romantic 7-day scavenger hunt to planting a diamond ring inside a carrot, people come up with really creative ideas to propose their special someone. After all, it’s not every day that you officially get to express your love for your better half.

Recently, a man took his relationship to new heights by proposing to his girlfriend atop a bridge. Civil engineer Dan Del Tufo made arrangements to lift the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth to its maximum height so that he could surprise his girlfriend Julia Kallmerten, reports News18.

Have a look at this unique proposal:

The couple met as students at the University of New Hampshire and have worked for the Memorial Bridge project. In order to make the moment memorable, Dan had reached out to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and asked authorities for their help to execute his special plan. Considering the significance of the bridge in the couple’s life, they happily obliged.

“This is not something we typically do, but through the description of the work they did at UNH and the work that (Julia) has done, DOT approved the request as long it could be tied to normal bridge maintenance operations,” Eileen Meaney, communications officer for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation was quoted saying by Fox News. “They were super cute, and we wish them the best,” she added.

Their college also shared the pictures of the happy couple:

Julia was taken by surprise when Dan went down on his knee and proposed her exactly when the bridge was raised to its highest point. “Honey, I want you to aggravate me for the rest of my life,” Dan was quoted saying by Indian Express. “Will you marry me?”, he added. Julia obviously said yes. Their family later joined them to celebrate the day.

It’s almost time for Valentine’s day, and it seems love is in the air, quite literally! Congratulations to the happy couple and we’re glad that the bridge helped connect their paths so beautifully.
