Priyanka Chopra Talks About Changing The World At The World Economic Forum 2020

The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting was recently hosted in Davos, Switzerland. Eminent leaders from across various fields graced the occasion to discuss global issues. Our very own Deepika Padukone was also present and even went on to speak about her journey dealing with depression and mental health awareness.

Priyanka Chopra too was among the many celebrities, philanthropists, and political leaders who were present during the event. She also engaged in a fireside chat and spoke about climate change, human rights, poverty, and healthcare, reports India Today.

Speaking about India’s fight with Polio, the actress said:

“11 years ago, 60 per cent of the world’s polio cases were in India. Five years later, eradicated. And that was because of the massive campaign that the government and almost 200 million volunteers… top-down and bottom-up, got together and said that we are going to make the change in this country.”

According to Hindustan Times, Priyanka Chopra also opened up about her vision for future generations and the kind of world she wants them to grow up in:

“Let’s bring the world to a place where a child’s dreams are achievable, where that child can get an education, where that child can have papers, where that child can actually have a future. I would love to live in a place where my children, when I have them, can grow up in a world where the world leaders have listened to Greta’s (Thunberg) generation. I want my kids to grow up in a place where the climate crisis is contained, if not averted. I want to live in a place where a woman’s ability to succeed should be a basic human right and not based on geography or chance.”

She used her social media handles to keep her audience posted on the events of the meeting. From prepping for her speech in the car to meeting Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, an economist and international development expert, she gave her audience all the updates.

We hope that her advocacy reaches and inspires powerful people to work towards eradicating social ills across various spectrums.
