The Met Gala is not about subdued elegance. In fact, celebrities throw subtlety out the window and deck up in their quirky best to make a bold fashion statement. This year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Benefit pink carpet was no different. With the theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, stars went all out but we had eyes only for Priyanka Chopra Jonas!
Remember her 2017 look which featured a Ralph Lauren trench coat with a trail? Well, that had nothing on her 2019 ensemble. Her stylist Mimi Cuttrell put together her look with a Dior gown and jewellery by Chopard.
But what drew everyone’s attention was the dramatic makeup, silver crown and her bindi! Priyanka’s makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, called it the “Louis XIV meets Dior Runway with a twist of Bowie attitude” look.
It is no secret that the actress and singer can pull off literally anything with confidence and elan. Even something as over the top as this. It was extravagance with EXTRA in capital letters. But that didn’t stop netizens from giving it the meme treatment.
