Pooja Bedi On How Her Kids Alaya & Omar Encouraged Her To Remarry

Most of us would remember B-Town actor Pooja Bedi as that bubbly girl Devika in the 1992 movie ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. And in the midst of making it big in Bollywood, she married her first husband Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewala. The couple then gave birth to two kids Alaya and Omar.

But sadly, Farhan and Pooja parted ways in 2003. Soon after, the single mother was seen participating in several reality shows when she found her love again. She met Maneck Contractor, her senior at school, on their alumni WhatsApp group. And after dating for a little over a year, the two got engaged on Valentine’s Day last year.

However, Pooja credits her kids for being supportive of her decision and persuading her to get married again. In an interview, Pooja revealed how Alaya and Omar encouraged her to put her life together and marry someone she loved, reports Hindustan Times.

She said, “Just before Maneck came into my life, Alaya and Omar were chatting about something and they said, ‘Mama, you should really get your life together.’ I said, ‘What?’ They said, ‘Yeah, look at papa. He has met Laila aunty and settled down with her. They have had a child together. He has got his life sorted. You should also get someone and just get married and settle down.’”

Pooja, who also participated in a dance reality show with her boyfriend Hanif Hilal in 2007, said that her kids have liked the men in her life.

“My children have really liked the men in my life and they have liked each one of them. For whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out, but I enjoyed the journey with them.”

For the couple, marriage is on the cards. It’s is true that love comes to you at a time when you least expect it and Pooja and Maneck’s love story holds testimony to that. We wish them a life full of love and happiness.
