Amidst no real shortage of controversy in the country, Salman Khan found himself in a fix when he likened himself to feeling like a ‘raped woman’ during the shoot of Sultan. Immediately, social media went abuzz, with two camps being formed, one against this heinous comment, and one, sadly, in support of Bhai, like Pooja Bedi.
Those who expressed their distaste against Salman were openly thrashed on social media, like singer Sona Mohapatra. But then, Pooja Bedi wasn’t one to rest without speaking her mind.
Pooja Bedi took to Twitter to ask whether it was fair and just to blow up Salman’s comments into a controversy.
Is @BeingSalmanKhan controversy justified? If I say I fee FAT as an elephant will @PetaIndia file a case? is India getting OVERSENSITIVE?
— Pooja Bedi (@poojabeditweets) June 21, 2016
She questioned by asking what was wrong in Salman’s comments about feeling ‘emotionally and physically shattered.’
If @BeingSalmanKhan's intention was 2 use the term rape to describe something that shatters someone physically and emotionally, is it wrong?
— Pooja Bedi (@poojabeditweets) June 21, 2016
agreed it's not the best simili, but if 2 @BeingSalmanKhan rape is the most brutal physical experience anyone could experience, is he wrong?
— Pooja Bedi (@poojabeditweets) June 21, 2016
Twitter did not take these comments lightly, and outrage poured against Pooja Bedi, saying that what she’s saying doesn’t even make any sense.
So, according to @poojabeditweets divorce calls for sensitivity but reaction to rape analogies is oversensitive 👏🏼👏🏼 pic.twitter.com/23iao1uL1V

But Ms. Bedi was undeterred, she went on justifying why she wrote what she wrote.
Yes! @parasrishi u have to be sensitive to THE ISSUES & VICTIMS. Not sensitive to Analagys, Metaphors &similes @oothikicha
— Pooja Bedi (@poojabeditweets) June 21, 2016
And then, she rallied all the educated and sensible people to see this whole controversy as what it really is.
As educated & sensible people we need 2 calmly see how much of this "protest" against @BeingSalmanKhan is for political gain&Media TRP!
— Pooja Bedi (@poojabeditweets) June 21, 2016
Cue more angry tweets.
it's better for you film stars not to be idiotically vocal coz most of you aṛeṅ well educated.

Look who is talking about " Education / Sense " .. *clap* 😂🙏

This just goes on to show that no matter what controversy erupts, one should not defend a case which has been proven to be wrong, given how Salman’s father Salim Khan has apologised on his behalf.
