A Policeman Who Jumped Into A 50-Ft Well To Rescue A 5-Day-Old Baby Deserves A Million Salutes

Female infanticide is a real problem in India. Most infants die and no one comes to know.

But then there are heroes like police sub-inspector Virpal Singh who did not let it happen.

An infant girl of just 5 days old was thrown into a 50-feet deep well in the Pali Mahaur village in Agra. But at around 7.15 pm in the evening, local villagers heard wailing coming from the well and called the police. The incredible thing was that the police team came in just 6 minutes after being alerted!

INFANT-1

The village is in a remote area and the person who threw the infant, who is still unidentified, must have thought that the plan will come through.

And sub-inspector Virpal Singh, not caring for his safety, tied a rope around his waist and plunged into the 50-feet deep well to rescue the infant.

“The baby was gravely injured and was struggling to breathe…It was all a team effort to save the child, my team worked well”

That is a very humble statement by a very brave man in sub-inspector Virpal Singh. We need more brave policemen like him.

The police then rushed the baby to the nearby hospital where she remains in a critical condition. We pray for the child’s recovery, hoping she will survive.
