Someone Made A ‘Pokémons Of New York’ Page And It’s The Best Thing You’ll See Today

The Pokémon GO fever is steadily spreading all over the world. In just under two weeks, it has managed to gain more fan following than Tinder, Twitter, and even Porn. Pages of all kinds are cropping up on Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit. But one page has captured everyone’s attention and it’s steadily on the rise.

Three youngsters, Abhishek Singh Kadian, Avish Revis, and Aakash Shah, created Pokémons of New York, a page that chronicles the daily lives of common Pokémon in New York, and it has gained 7.5k likes over the course of just under three days.

We bring you some of their best posts, and all of them are very reminiscent of the world-famous Humans of New York page. It’s almost like a homage to Brandon Stanton.

“They think that just because I don’t have eyes that I don’t see their disappointment. People call me a waste of Pokeballs, and it hurts every time. It’s not my fault I’m hard to catch. If people don’t want me, that’s fine, but don’t get mad at me just because you don’t know how to throw a Pokeball.”

Rattata, 13, Harlem

“I’ve been caught and released 10 times now. Overtime I encounter a trainer, I always think, ‘This is it. This is the one.’ Everyone just wants me for the experience points. They don’t care about me. Everyone recognises the face of a Pokemon master, but nobody knows the faces of the ones they stop over on their way to the top.”

“Just because I don’t have a face doesn’t mean I don’t have emotions. Just because I don’t have a mouth doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to say. Just because I don’t have eyes doesn’t mean I don’t want to cry. Just because I don’t have arms, doesn’t mean I don’t need a hug.”

“People assume that we must be completely in sync. We’re not. We disagree all the time. Sometimes he wants to go this way, and I want to go that way. Sometimes we argue. Sometimes feelings get hurt. It makes things difficult. I’m happy we’re different, though. Differences are good. I’d rather deal with our differences than live with total sameness.

Honestly we’re tired of people telling us that one of us was unplanned. Stop treating us like conjoined twins.”

Charmander, 25, Harlem

“It’s not easy always living under the pressure of evolving. People shout at me and taunt me. “Do you even evolve bro?” Everybody prefers Charizard over me. There needs to be an end to this body shaming. I have found other reasons to stay happy though.

I meet a lot of Indians around here, sometimes they wave at me from taxis and join their hands towards me and they ask me if I am their God Hanuman’s Fan. Seems like they see some similarity between the two of us. Some even started worshipping me. I love this godly feeling and all the free food they bring me.

Setting my ass on fire has finally started to pay off.”

Magneton, 28, Bronx

“I’ve been called names since my childhood, just like every other kid. “Chick Magnet”, “Mister Steal-My-Girl”. People were nice to me growing up here in New York. I don’t know why but most of them were women. They just see something in me and feel drawn towards me. I haven’t been able to figure out what it is till this day. Some say it’s because of my body. The other kids were always jealous of me, because I had three of everything I guess. Can’t let bullies pull me down though. “Pull me” reminds me, it’s a pain in my magnets whenever a car passes by me too close, all my magnets can’t help but take me towards it. I end up paying people for the damages when I collide with their cars.

I’m not a womaniser. I’m just making do with what God gave me. After all it can’t be a crime to love women. Girls certainly take the edge off. Last night, I was hovering down the road and this girl shouted at me, “So many screws on you, I bet you can screw me in all the right places!”

Some of my magnets turn red when I’m around girls like that.”

Beedrill, 22, New York City

“I come from a long line of agriculture farmerz. My father taught me how to fly and sting and pollinate. Agriculture haz been on a decline in the US and so my father thought it’d be better if I move to the city. Zo I did. I don’t have the zkills to have a White Wing job but I could have pulled it off. I work azz a construction worker in the city now. Zome may think there’zz not a lot to it. But if you azk me, I could show you the wonderz a bee with a drill can do.

I ain’t got much time to get with the world, sometimezz my friend Pikachu suggeztz going to the bar with him. He picks up numberz while I pick up his tabzz. And he’z a mean drunk sometimez.

I’m working three jobz right now. Buzy az a beedrill. Sending money back to my father is my main concern. I’ll settle down with a Beedrilla someday. (Hope she has a job too.)”

Koffing, 53, Queens

“People call me Koffing. It’s a play on the word “Coughing”. I was prone to the flu and asthma a lot when I was young. So, the name kind of got stuck afterwards. It was James who started calling me that, he was my best friend. We don’t talk much anymore. I don’t hate him for the nickname, I don’t mind it. After all, best friends always have nicknames for you.

Old age got to me. I have to travel to work daily. Did I tell you I do weather forecasts? I love Smog, don’t know why no one else does. Travelling in subway is tough. People give me frowns and murmur when I let out some gas. I can’t help passing gas in this old age. But it has its perks, some people end up giving me seats to sit in an attempt to get away from the smell. I have to brush 5 times just to keep bad breath on the down low. It never goes away. But New York has been wonderful to me other than all that. I love the city.”

These are amazing and heartfelt accounts from Pokémon who live normal lives just like the average New York citizen, and as the page says:

“It’s sad that humans have developed a sense of ego just based on capturing Pokémon. End this domination. Pokémon have better purposes on God’s beautiful earth. Much better than sitting in balls all day long just to boost their “trainer”/captor’s ego.”
