After enforcing Lockdown 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi again addressed the nation yesterday giving us an insight into the current situation in the country and the way forward. In his 34-minute long speech, PM Modi said how we are currently fighting a battle with an invisible enemy. He added that it is important that we stay alert, follow all the rules and then move forward.
Before signing off, he announced a package worth Rs 20 lakh crore to deal with the economic crisis due to the COVID-19, reports The Indian Express. “This will play an important role in the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’,” he said. But he added that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be giving us an update on the economic package soon. He also said that the new rules of the fourth phase of the lockdown will be announced before May 18.
People thought PM Modi could have come straight to the point, rather than giving a long motivation intro. Even former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram thought that PM Modi yesterday gave us a ‘headline and a blank page’ in his speech.
Yesterday, PM gave us a headline and a blank page. Naturally, my reaction was a blank!
Today, we look forward to the FM filling the blank page. We will carefully count every ADDITIONAL rupee that the government will actually infuse into the economy.

Since PM Modi addressed the nation in ‘shuddh’ Hindi, some people faced difficulty in understanding parts of his speech.
I desperately need Kannada translation for this speech.

I read/write Hindi fluently, so I usually live-translate Modi's speeches for friends.
Today, Modi went to great length to use really-big-and-meaningless hindi words so it sounds more grand.
If he can record these before hand, why not close-caption them!

Either Modi ji is too Hindi or i’m too South Indian. Phew. Struggling to understand.

Here’s his full speech:
As we move towards the end of the third leg of the coronavirus induced lockdown, the total number of Covid-19 cases have reportedly reached 74,480 and 2,415 people have died from the virus in India. Let’s just hope for the best and stay put in these testing times.
