PM Modi To Address The Nation At 8 PM Tonight As COVID-19 Cases Rise To 70,756

Lockdown 3 is set to end on May 17 which is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a six-hour-long virtual meeting with Chief Ministers yesterday to discuss the road ahead. According to The Economic Times, he invited suggestions on how lockdown can be lifted by saying,

“I am of the firm view that the measures needed in the first phase of the lockdown were not needed during the second, and similarly, the measures needed in the third phase are not needed in the fourth.”

According to NDTV, he will address the nation at 8 pm tonight to offer more clarity on how things will proceed in the future.

News18 reports that the country has 46,008 active coronavirus cases with 22,454 recovered patients. We hope that his address throws light on whether lockdown will be extended till May 31, what protocols will be relaxed and how the economy will open up moving forward.

Stay safe everyone, we’re all in this together.
