Madhya Pradesh Makes Planting 10 Trees & Taking ‘Tree Selfies’ Mandatory For A Gun License!

Recently, a municipality of a small town in Kerala made it compulsory to plant at least two trees like mango or jackfruit in the housing compound to get their house registered. Following the footsteps is Madhya Pradesh’s firearm capital Chambal.

According to the latest set of rules introduced in the Chambal and Gwalior region of the state, a person must plant at least ten trees to apply for a gun license.

The person who applies for the same will have to plant the saplings and click a selfie with them. They then need to take care of them for a month and attach the pictures with the application. Patwari, local government officials will then check and prepare a report after the conditions are full-filled, reports The Hindu.

In case of emergency, if the applicant is facing an immediate threat to life, he/she will be granted the license. The sapling planting procedures must be followed after getting the license in such cases.

What an innovative way to make people plant trees! We hope such other regions in the country take inspiration from this and implement such measures to make India greener!
