Stargazers Rejoice! April’s Brightest ‘Full Pink Moon’ Will Be Visible Tomorrow, Here Are All The Deets!

Our blue planet’s natural satellite (read: the moon) is one of the most beautiful celestial bodies that light up the night sky. During Science class, we were taught that this happens because it reflects back sunlight. When it is directly opposite the sun, it is at its luminescent best, also called the full moon. In February, the full moon was also a supermoon nicknamed as ‘Super Snow Moon‘.

The brightest moon in the month April is also known as the ‘Pink Moon’ and it is an absolute delight to observe or photograph!

Will the moon really have a pink hue? How and when can I see it?

According to Express UK, the April full moon isn’t pink in colour. It has been named after a North American flower called “moss pink” or “wild ground phlox”. This pink flower blooms during springtime, hence the spring full moon was named after it by Native Americans. Other names given to this moon are Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and the Fish Moon.

The pink moon will be at its peak on April 19 (Good Friday) at 4.42 pm in India. We can watch the full moon with our naked eyes as it poses no danger to eyesight. Binoculars or a small telescope can also be used. Photographers can utilise a telescope to click pictures with smartphones and a telephoto lens with DSLR cameras.
