PIA Under Fire After Video Of Mom Of Suffocating Baby Pleading To Open Flight Door Goes Viral

Air travel can sometimes be one of the most annoying ever. Even though it technically does reduce travel time significantly, adding the zillion delays that often pop up, it gets super frustrating. Add to that the fact that people are basically trapped inside a metal box which is supposed to fly in the air, patience runs low and tempers run high.

And if you happen to be travelling with children, the stress levels shoot through the roof. One mother on board a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, had to live through the worst possible situation when travelling with her infant.

A video taken on board the flight, shows the distressed mother urging the cabin crew to open the door after her infant started experiencing breathing trouble.

Times Of Karachi shared the video on their Facebook page and according to them, the PK 750 Paris to Islamabad, which was scheduled to depart from Paris at 9 pm on Friday 3 August, was delayed by 2 hours and 39 minutes.

Moreover, the AC on board the flight was turned off and the passengers weren’t given any reason as to what was causing the delay.

According to the Times Of Karachi, PIA spokesperson Mashood Tajwar said:

“We are trying to identify the crew visible in the video to determine the flight number & assured that those responsible will be held accountable.”

The woman in the video, Zoya Fayyaz posted a photograph of a crew member on the flight who allegedly behaved in an extremely insensitive manner:

She writes:

“This guy was laughing at all the situation and sitting so calm in business class and asking my husband to take his video too while he was hiding his identity card with his hands.”

While the child is reportedly better now, a family member reveals that it was an extremely traumatizing near-death experience as the baby was suffocating badly and frothing from the mouth.

As with the way of the Internet, Zoya was criticized by some for yelling and not taking off the baby’s clothes to aid with breathing. To them she responded:

“Well, that’s me shouting in the plane. I don’t need to clarify myself, 1st of all the idiots saying newborn ke sath kyun fly kiya? There can be an emergency too… Then comes the 2nd idiots saying why is she shouting. Acha let any of your own children be in this situation.
Then comes back 3rd idiots asking me to remove the layers of clothes from my baby, well it was just one overall body and jab yeh haal ho k dono bachey and yourself is going through your 1st experience with this shit airline your brain doesn’t work well.
And then comes 4th category jo keh rahey why do you travel with this airline, so for them I have to say there can be a possibility ke jahan jo don’t get any seats in this airline and you have to travel with the 1st available flights.”

Following the backlash, PIA released an official statement on their Twitter page where they claimed the flight was only delayed by 30 minutes:

30 minutes or 2 and half hours, being in such a situation can indeed be extremely terrifying. We can’t even imagine what the ones trapped in the flight may have been going through.
