PETA India Honors Mizoram Boy Who Rushed Injured Chick To Hospital With An Award

If you are one of those keeping a close eye on social media platforms recently, you might be familiar with the name Derek C Lalchhanhima. Yes, we are talking about that cute Mizoram boy who won a million hearts with his incredible display of kindness.

The six-year-old kid had accidentally run over a baby chick with his bicycle and acted immediately to save the bird. He rushed it to the hospital nearby with all the money he had (Rs.10) and asked for help. His picture which had all the innocence in the world went viral in no time with people praising his pure heart.

Lalchhanhima also received a special certificate from his school, St. Pio school in Sairang,  for his heart-warming act.

And now, there is more good news.

According to The Indian Express, the young hero has been honored with the ‘Compassionate Kid’ Award by PETA India. Speaking about the same, PETA said in a statement,

“Developing empathy for animals is a key step towards developing empathy for – and rejecting violence against – all beings, including humans. It’s important, therefore, that students learn at an early age that the animals with whom we share this planet are, in many ways, not so different from us.”
