Inspired By ZNMD, Ahmedabad Crowd Plays Holi With Tomatoes ‘La Tomatina’ Style

Since 15th July, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara manages to do what most desi moms couldn’t – make their kids fall in love with tomatoes!

All of us were mesmerized by that one song where they played the ‘La Tomatina festival’ in Spain. People seemed to really enjoy throwing tomatoes at random people, swim through them, smash them, and turn the streets red with pulp.

Drawing inspiration from Zindagi, a huge crowd from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, decided to ditch the conventional Holi with gulal, water balloons, and coloured water and played Tomatina instead!

ANI shared pictures from the celebration where we can see the crowd dressed in white, smearing each other with tomatoes, tonnes of which are seen lying on the ground.

However fancy and fun this may seem, the news left a lot of people quite sceptic about the idea of wasting so much food when thousands in the country sleep hungry.

Also, some pointed out that if one wants to celebrate Holi, they might as well celebrate it in the traditional way.

Its criminal to destroy the farmers months of hard work and sweat for ones pleasure. What have we come to.

In stead of banning PUBG game. Ban these things. India is always known for respecting the food not wasting like this. And moreover holi is never celebrated with tomatoes

While the debate about wasting food and copying Spanish traditions goes on, I just have one question: getting hit with tomatoes is ridiculously painful…why do you want to celebrate Holi with black and blue bruises all over your body?!
