It’s common for families to post ads in matrimonial columns, seeking the perfect match for their sons and daughters. These ads are often straightforward, listing details like age, caste, and profession. But it’s not every day that you see a celebrity family joining in!
Recently, Kolkata’s famous magician, PC Sorcar Jr, surprised everyone by placing a matrimonial ad in a Sunday newspaper’s “Patra-Patri Chai” section, searching for prospective grooms for his three daughters – Maneka, Mumtaz, and Maubani, reported Hindustan Times.
The magician has proposed a Swayamvar-style marriage for his daughters, embracing a traditional process that allows the women to choose their own partners. Sorcar’s ad stated a simple request: “Regardless of caste, creed, age (38-45), handsome, tall, well-established man wanted.”
PC Sorcar Jr’s daughters are all accomplished in their own right. Maneka is following her father’s magical path, while Mumtaz and Maubani have earned recognition in the acting industry. Maubani, the youngest, spoke with a leading daily about her views on marriage, saying she values honesty and a kind heart above all else in a future partner, reported News18.
“In today’s media world, looks may matter, but what truly counts is a beautiful heart,” she said.
She also shared her thoughts on love, divorce, and self-respect, especially given her aunt Maneka’s past experience with marriage. Maneka Sorcar, the eldest daughter of PC Sorcar Jr, went through a challenging phase in her personal life when her marriage ended in divorce in 2012.
“Divorce is not a failure but a step forward toward happiness,” she added.
With her father’s unique Swayamvar invitation, it’s clear this family values love, choice, and individuality over everything.
