CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani is controversy’s favourite child. May be he likes the spot. While you may argue that he has a long-debated history with filmmakers and their angst (that’s what happens when you ban films for being ‘lady oriented‘), it is his eccentricities that ups the ante every time you think it couldn’t get any worse.
Speaking of the worse, remember the time he wanted to censor the word ‘intercourse’ from the trailer of SRK and Anushka’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ only to be challenged (and defeated) by the channel Mirror Now? Yes, the same tirade that ended up in a now (in)famous awkward encounter between Nihalani and a reporter who followed him till the last possible corner. Pardon me, of course, you remember the hilarious video!
Well, there is a development to note and I feel more than obligated to be of service.
According to The Quint, Pahlaj Nihalani has filed a police complaint against reporter Himanshi Chaudhary of Mirror Now for harassment, intimidation, and breach of privacy.
In the police complaint lodged at the Girgaum police station, Nihalani accuses the reporter of ‘bullying’ his staff and ‘breaking in’ his office.
“She has been continuously harassing me in my office building premises blocking my way and not allowing me to enter the lift, exceeding all levels of courteous behaviour…
and bullying the security guards and office staff into letting her enter my office. She is intruding into my privacy by showing my footage.”
Given the relationship Nihalani and the media share, this piece of paper could very well serve as the final blow to the rocky relationship. Wonder how Faye D Souza would react to this!
