Sarees, Sherwanis & Dhotis: Indians Proudly Wore Traditional Attires At The Oscars, See Pics

Besides India bringing home 2 Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards, what gives us immense pride is watching Indian artists in traditional attires in a sea of western outfits. Amongst the people wearing gowns and suits were Indians embracing their culture and heritage by wearing gorgeous pieces of sarees, dhotis and sherwanis.

Here’s a look at them:

1. Ram Charan arrived at the Oscars wearing a black three-piece sherwani designed by Shantnu Nikhil that had golden details attached to India. His wife Upasana Konidela, on the other hand, wore a sustainable customised ivory silk saree by Hyderabad-based designer Jayanti Reddy.

2. ‘RRR’ director SS Rajamouli and his wife Rama Rajamouli were seen beautifully donning a dhoti-kurta and dual-toned silk saree, respectively.

3. Jr NTR arrived wearing a black velvet custom-made bandhgala with gold metallic embroidery of a tiger – not only reminiscent of India’s national animal but also his introductory scene in ‘RRR’ where Bheem fights a tiger.
