#OldMonk has been trending everywhere right after the news of its dip in its sales were announced. For all those who drink, Old Monk is the drink that reigns their favorite drinks chart. But, there is good news.
Apparently, Old Monk won’t be taken off the market.
The senior management at Mohan Meakin Ltd (which manufactures Old monk), has revealed that this drink won’t die. People went hysterical after the news of its dipping sales were announced few days back.
“The figures are misleading. Sales have dropped in a handful of states, mostly in South India, but that doesn’t mean that Old Monk is doing badly. Since Sunday, I have been reading on Facebook and Twitter that we are going to stop producing our most popular brand. Our managing director Hemant Mohan was shocked to hear this. I want to put an end to all these rumours and assure you that this is not true. Old Monk is still India’s favourite rum and it’s not going anywhere,” said SN Mainji, the deputy general manager of Mohan Meakin Ltd.
He was not so keen on sharing the reason behind the decrease of the sales, but he stressed the fact that Old Monk can never be taken off the market. He further added that there are certain states where liquor cartels are being formed and that these groups are trying to monopolize markets.
People are obviously happy with this development and shared their happiness over Twitter.
