Ola CEO Asks Which Accessories People Want With Electric Scooter, Desis Say ‘Fire Extinguisher’

In April 2022, Ola said that it was recalling more than 1,400 units of its electric scooters after several incidents of electric two-wheelers catching fire grabbed headlines. 4 people had lost their lives because of such accidents. According to Indian Express, one Ola electric scooter from a particular batch had burst into flames while it was parked on the roadside in Pune back in March. The entire batch of two-wheelers was then recalled.

Here’s a video from that incident:

However, Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal had a very light take on the accidents back then. According to Outlook, he had tweeted that “EV (electric vehicles) fires will happen. Happens in all global products too.”

Hence, recently when Bhavish Aggarwal took to Twitter to ask for suggestions on the kind of accessories consumers would like to have along with the Ola S1 – an electric scooter by the company which is to be sold at a little less than Rs 1 lakh in India, people came up with hilarious reactions.

Immediately, several people online suggested fire extinguishers, fire-proof jackets, Burnol and what not! Have a look:

Seeing the responses of so many people, it is evident that people want safety to be the first priority for Ola and not other fancy accessories.
