NZ YouTuber Who Donated Plasma To Indians Faces Racist Attack In Chandni Chowk

Alongside a massive financial crisis, increasing unemployment rate, and a medical crisis, the coronavirus pandemic has given rise to another significant issue which needs our attention – racism. We have come across incidents where people from the North-East became victims of racist slurs and harassment.

In a similar case, a New Zealand YouTuber named Karl Rock, who is married to an Indian and lives in India, recently experienced racist attacks in Chandni Chowk.

In a video uploaded on YoutTube, Karl narrated what happened and added clips from the incident. He starts by saying how he visited Chandni Chowk’s spice market and came across a random man on the street who called him ‘Corona’ and asked him to leave the country.

Karl, in an act of self-defence, engaged in an altercation with the man, trying to tell him that he lives in India. The man, on the other hand, continues to hurl abuses at him.

Karl, in the video, expresses how his reaction to the man’s racist slurs was “stupid”. However, he feels that he has lived in India long enough to engage in an argument with a local as he feels they are his own people.

What’s surprising is that Karl had earlier donated plasma for COVID-19 patients and his video was uploaded by Arvind Kejriwal on Twitter,

People on the internet took to the comment section to apologise to Karl for the disappointing experience:

Karl, however, later addressed the issue and said that no one needs to apologise to him as one guy doesn’t represent India as a whole.

It is disappointing to see a man who helped the people of our country go through such a hurtful experience!
