Novak Djokovic Eating Grass After His Wimbledon Win Has Twitter Flooding With ‘GOAT’ Jokes

Our favourite sports stars celebrate their victories in many different ways. From whooping, jumping with joy, kissing the trophy, biting the medal to popping open a bottle of bubbly, we’ve seen it all.

Cricketer Chris Gayle celebrates by dancing or doing push-ups and who could possibly forget Sourav Ganguly waving his shirt in the Lord’s balcony after Team India won the Natwest series final way back in 2002.

But when Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in the Wimbledon finals, his celebration was peculiar, to say the least. He pulled out some grass from the All England Club’s centre court and ate it!

But why did he do it? Here’s the answer.

This isn’t the first time the Serbian has done this. It is a sort of tradition that started when he won his first Wimbledon trophy in 2011. CNN quoted him explaining,

“It’s a little tradition obviously. As a kid I was dreaming of winning Wimbledon, so, like every child, you dream of doing something crazy when you actually achieve it — if you achieve it — and that was one of the things.”

But tennis fans have been joking that he might’ve been hungry after a strenuous match that lasted almost 5 hours while others are saying that is exactly what a GOAT eats. Take a look.

Do you have a special (or unusual) way of celebrating victories too? We’d love to know.
