Nora Fatehi Opens Up About The Time A Casting Director Called Her Home & Berated Her

Many of us know Canadian actress Nora Fatehi through her hit numbers like ‘Naach Meri Rani’ and ‘Dilbar’ in Bollywood. However, not many are aware of her struggling days in Mumbai. When Nora first came to India, she didn’t know anyone in the country and had to face bullying and fraud before getting to where she is today.

In a recent interview, Nora revealed how a nasty experience with a casting director made her want to leave the country immediately. Sharing how the director called her home and berated her, Nora was quoted saying by HT,

“There was one casting director that I met in the first few months that I came to India. She almost made me feel like packing my bags and leaving. She said to me, ‘There’s too many people like you here. Our industry is sick and tired of people like you. We don’t want you.’”

She further added how the director yelled at her, “You are talentless, we don’t want you.” However, while Nora was shocked by the outburst, she started working harder to achieve success. She said, “I just left and I cried so much. I didn’t ask for it because that casting director called me, I didn’t even know who she was.

“She called me to her house and she sat me down just to scream at me. I was new in the country, so I was like, ‘Is this what everyone does here? Just call people to scream at them?’ Maybe what she said to me and how she said it was low-key a driving force.”

While it’s sad that Nora had a bad experience initially, we’re glad she didn’t give up because her success speaks for itself. Kudos to the talented woman!
