Twitter Floods With Memes After #NightCurfew Gets Imposed In Multiple States Ahead Of New Year

Soon after economic activities were resumed in the country post the lockdown, people could be seen mindlessly parading Indian streets and flouting necessary coronavirus norms without realizing that the contagious virus hasn’t completely subsided yet. Moreover, several travelers tested positive for the new mutant coronavirus strain in the country.

Hence, authorities decided to take matters under control and imposed a night curfew in New Delhi and many other cities to restrict the New Year celebrations fearing the spread of the virus. As reported by NDTV, no public gatherings will be allowed in Delhi tonight and tomorrow between 11 PM and 6 AM.

“Celebratory events, congregations and gatherings at public places shall not be permitted from 11 pm of December 31 to 6 am of January 1 and 11 pm of January 1 and 6 am of January 2,” said the Delhi Disaster Management Authority in a statement.

The celebration might “pose a considerable threat of the spread of the virus and may cause a setback to the appreciable gains made in the suppression of chain of transmission of COVID-19 cases in Delhi,” the DDMA added.

The Centre also urged other states to put several guidelines in places to keep the virus in check. Hence, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Chennai, Kolkata among other cities also imposed night curfew, reports Zee News.

While introverts rejoiced on hearing about the night curfew, partygoers were not impressed. And soon, Twitter was flooded with jokes and memes.

Well, let’s hope cancelling all our plans, staying away from friends and families, and not celebrating festivities with much pomp does some good. 2021, please be nice!
