Italian cuisine is the most popular in the world. No wonder, because pizza is soul food, comfort food and party food all rolled into one. We could eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even as a midnight snack. But what lengths would you go to, to get your favourite pizza? Would you have it flown down from another country?
According to the Evening Standard, Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, informed the country’s Senate Committee that certain citizens use their mobile phones to import pizza from London.
The minister also revealed that British Airways was delivering the pizzas which wealthy citizens picked up from the airport the following day. He expressed dissatisfaction on the issue saying that such acts were seen as a status symbol. Furthermore, it adversely affected local farmers.
The committee on agriculture was said to have been discussing the rising imports in the country. The government has been battling with higher imports as compared to exports which aren’t good for the economy.
Following the claims, Twitter was in a frenzy. Most people couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Take a look.
Dear @British_Airways, how come you didn't tell us you run a pizza delivery service to Nigeria? Is there an app for this? https://t.co/k7Bvk8CoeX

What’s your take on the whole situation? If someone has the monetary means to buy imported items for themselves, should they be discouraged? Let us know in the comments.
