60-year old celebrity chef Nigella Lawson recently made desis happy when she opened up about dal-chawal craving on her Instagram profile. She has left her fans awestruck yet again, but not for her exquisite recipes this time.
As per a report in The Indian Express, it all happened when Nigella was demonstrating the recipe for making brown butter colcannon on her cooking show. Splashing some milk into a pan, she explained that she had heated it in the”me-crow-wav-eh”, referring to ‘microwave’. You’ll have to hear it to believe it:

Her fans on Twitter were left amused by her unfamiliar pronunciation of the word:

Out of all of the possible ways of her saying “microwave” that I ran through my head, I did not expect her to say it like THAT.

As I’ve just recently bought a microwave I thought I should name it in honour of last night’s episode of Nigella. I present to you, Mi-cro-wav-eh the microwave. @Nigella_Lawson pic.twitter.com/QBV1cwUTUj

Eternally grateful to Nigella Lawson for letting us know we've all been mispronouncing microwave for the last 50 (or so) years. pic.twitter.com/tfXODGQRDp

Nigella finally responded in the comments to the frenzy that her pronunciation had caused:
@Nigella_Lawson I love this, we deliberately mispronounce words in our house all the time. Such fun.

We do, too. Exactly that

It sounded akin to a Harry Potter spell when I first heard it. What do you think of Nigella’s playful variation of the word? Tell us!
