42 Weeks Pregnant New Zealand Minister Bikes All The Way To Hospital To Deliver Baby. Badass!

I think we’re all going to have no option but to agree that New Zealand women are real badasses! First, their Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern becomes only the second woman, after Benazir Bhutto, to have given birth while in office. And now one of her cabinet’s ministers has set a new benchmark for how awesome women can be!

The New Zealand Minister for Women and Associate Minister for Health and Transport,  a very pregnant Julie Anne Genter has become a beacon of badassery ever since she rode a bike to the hospital to get her labour induced!

She was 42 weeks pregnant and still managed to accomplish this Herculean feat, even though it was mostly a downhill road! She posted a pictures of herself having just reached the Auckland City Hospital, where she was due to induce labour.

So, wait, why did she have to cycle all the way? Why doesn’t a minister have a car on standby to take her to the hospital? And what about, like, calling an Uber or something? Well, guess what? Space constraints!

“My partner and I cycled because there wasn’t enough room in the car for the support crew… but it also put me in the best possible mood!”

I’d really like an explanation for what she meant by ‘support crew’ and why they deserve the space more than her 42-weeks pregnant self! But right now, I’ll just be focusing on how epic this is!

The fact that Genter’s badass act is pretty much on point with her role as the New Zealand Minister for Women, and an Associate Minister for Transport and Health was not overlooked!

Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, to which Genter belongs, tweeted how perfectly in sync this was with her brand and what she represents—Woman power, healthy living and ecofriendly transport!

Twitter was mighty impressed by this New Zealand Minister and her inspiring stunt, and they showed it!

This only goes to prove yet again what amazing superheroes women are!

Impressive!

Just a usual Sunday for the Kiwis!

Talk the talk. Walk the walk. And cycle that goddamn cycle!

Her reasons are just the cherry on the cake, aren’t they?

Praise, all the way from The Hague, Netherlands!

News of her heroics reached all the way to Hollywood too! She got a nice shoutout from actress Kristen Bell!

Girl power shone bright and strong on Twitter!

So you wanna take that whole ‘weaker sex’ thing back or what?

Blame this all on…

Hush equality! Women are the superior species. Period.

People couldn’t help but feel a tad bit pathetic about their lazy selves, ‘cos girl gone and shone everyone else in poor light with her antics!

Well, clearly, the bottom line is….

Hear Hear!

Genter and her partner Peter Nunns will be following in the footsteps of NZ PM Jacinda Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford, who are setting new-age parenting goals! Ardern resumed her PM duties only weeks after her daughter Neve was born, and partner Gayford was the one looking after the little one. In Genter’s case too, she plans to resume some of her ministerial duties six weeks after her delivery.

Here’s to the badass women who show the world that there’s nothing they can’t do!
