Yes, you read that right. After the countless Netflix and Chill references, we now have a solid reason to subscribe, our very own Indian series added to the Netflix pack.
Netflix has joined hands with Phantom Films to make Vikram Chandra’s best selling novel, Sacred Games, into an original Indian series on Netflix.
If you haven’t heard about Sacred Games, it’s a novel based in Mumbai, revolving around organised crime, politics, espionage and corruption. It’s all set to be shot and upon completion it will be available worldwide!
Vikram Chandra is quite excited about this new turn
This is what Vikram had to say about it, “Over the last few years, I’ve watched with great excitement and pleasure as Netflix has transformed narrative television with its ground-breaking, genre-bending shows. I’m confident that all the colour and vitality and music of the fictional world I’ve lived with for so long will come fully alive on the large-scale canvas provided by Netflix. I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and Phantom Films.”
Netflix and Phantom Films weren’t too far to hop on the bandwagon either!

And Netflix’s VC of International Original Series, Erik Barmack, seemed to agree, “Sacred Games reinforces our commitment to bring the authenticity of local stories to Netflix members across 190 countries worldwide.”
