Sussanne Khan, Dia Mirza & Sonali Bendre’s Friends Keep Her Book Club Running In Her Absence

Social media is a lie. Everyone is pretending to live their best lives with romance, travel, success and parties being their norm. And even though in reality, it’s nothing but a curation of the best moments, the collective effect of it all makes us feel like everyone but us leads an amazing life. Which is why having someone be real on such platforms is refreshing and almost kind of a relief.

Watching someone go through a tough time reminds us that we’re not alone. Witnessing someone have the courage to bare it all and to still hold their heads up with resilience, is something that leaves its mark on the observer for good.

And the reason I speak of this today is, Sonali Bendre, the actress who has become a role model for many now.

Sonali announced her cancer diagnosis with her fans a little over a month back and since then has been an open book about the ups and downs of her new reality. Her thoughtful posts introspecting on dealing with the misfortune that’s befallen her and her family make you smile at the way she constantly looks at the bright side.

She has also used this opportunity to constantly express her love and gratitude to those who matter, her friends and family.

And so on National Book Lovers day, she thanked those who came together to keep her book club going in her absence.

The avid reader and sworn book lover posted a picture of her friends Gayatri Oberoi, Sussanne Khan, Dia Mirza and Janice Sequeira, who came together for a session of #SonalisBookClub.

Thanking them, Sonali wrote:

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… “I have the best friends in the world!” Thank you sooooo much gayatri, susanne and dia for coming together to celebrate Friendship Day with #SBC… I had so much fun watching this… So glad some of my influence has rubbed off on you. hahaha…

Special thank you to janice for ensuring a smooth and lively conversation. I truly truly appreciate it.”

She also shared a moment from a bookstore in honour of the day:

Sussanne also shared pics from the day spent with the other ladies, calling it “An ode to Sonzy’s book club.”

Janice Sequeira shared the same thanking Sonali for entrusting her with the book club in her absence. She wrote:

“Spent the afternoon chatting about books, friendship and ‘Sons’ aka sonali bendre with these lovely ladies! Thank you for trusting me with #sonalisbookclub. Happy to do my bit to keep your amazing initiative going!”

It’s so nice of these ladies to take time out of their busy schedules to make such a beautiful gesture for their friend. It is, after all, the little things that make a big difference. Sonali and her book club mates are the perfect examples of the wonders that can take place when women come together in support of each other. More power to them.
