Cancer. The dreaded C-word that scares the living daylights out of people. It doesn’t help that it’s often used in conjunction with another C-word. You guessed it, chemotherapy. To say that someone who is battling with cancer has it tough is a gross understatement. But this World Cancer Day, all of us found inspiration to fight it with the help of some really strong women. One of whom is veteran actress and social activist Nafisa Ali.
She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer but she has never let it bog down her spirit
She has always been candid about her journey towards recovery, posting updates on her social media handle. Including the inevitable hair loss.
And her positive response to it!
The former Miss India has said on many an occasion that her family and friends are the source of her courage. Their affection keeps her going. Her best friend was by her side at the hospital when she had to take a bone marrow booster shot during chemotherapy. She ‘ran away’ to Goa for a much-needed respite with her family in December last year.
In an interview with The Quint, she said,
“I can tolerate a lot of pain… I’m not a complainer, ever”
Yesterday, she revealed that she was being admitted for surgery to combat the illness.
As with everything else, she took on this operation with a huge smile on her face and her loved ones accompanying her throughout. We wish the braveheart and fighter a speedy recovery. More power to her!
