Veteran Actor Mumtaz Rubbishes Rumours Of Her Death, Says She Is ‘Hale & Hearty’

After the passing away of actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, there have been rumours of deaths of other eminent actors as well. For some time, news of Naseeruddin Shah being severely ill had spread, however, that was reported to be fake soon after. And since the past few days, there have been rumours of veteran actress Mumtaz’s death as well.

Rubbishing these rumours, Mumtaz recently spoke to media outlets revealing that she is “hale and hearty”, reveals Hindustan Times.

“I am hale and hearty. Main abhi zinda hoon. I am glad someone called to check officially. I don’t know why someone is deliberately doing this. Is it some kind of a joke?”

Mumtaz went on to claim that even last year, rumours around her health were making rounds on the internet.

“Last year, it shook my family and everyone called in, worried sick. My near and dear ones were in different parts of the world and it traumatised all of them. In a way, it also troubled me a lot.”

She revealed that she has been in London with her family, safe and sound, reports DNA.

“Mujhe kyun maarna chahte hain log? Jab waqt aayega to main khud hi chali jaaongi.”

She also condemned the people who are responsible for spreading such fake news.

“In times like these, when the world is fighting a pandemic, I wonder who thought of this insensitive hoax to get a few eyeballs. I am not even stepping out of my house. My kids don’t let me do it. They are all taking such good care of me and trust me, my health is great.”

“Jab marungi, to meri family officially bata degi sabko. It won’t be a secret,” she added.

Mumtaz had been a popular face of the Hindi Film Industry especially during the ’60s and the ’70s. Her roles in movies like ‘Khilona’ and ‘Do Raaste continues’ to be people’s favourite.

It is indeed upsetting when people spread such fake news, especially at a time like this when everyone in the world is worried about the health of their loved ones. Anyway, we wish Mumtaz Ma’am a long life!
