Out Of 100 Cities In The World, Mumbai Ranked Worst For Driving!

The traffic congestion problem in metropolitan cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru is well known. But did you know that the situation is so bad that the 2019 Driving Cities Index has placed Mumbai in the last spot ranking 100 world cities for vehicle users?

Yes, It’s true! Mister Auto shortlisted 100 cities around the globe and then compiled data on 3 key factors: Infrastructure (cars per capita, air quality, road quality etc), Safety (road rage, fatality rate), and Costs (petrol, parking, taxes). Then it calculated the sum of the weighted average for all of them and gave each city a score between 1 and 100.

According to The Times of India, Calgary in Canada got the highest score of 100, followed by Dubai with 97.87 and Ottawa with 96.60.

However, Kolkata bagged the 98th spot with a saddening score of 29.99 and Mumbai was adjudged the worst city for drivers with an abysmal score of 1 on the index. News18 reports that when the parameter of road rage was taken into consideration, Mumbai and Kolkata came at the 95th and 97th spot respectively.
