Mumbai Man Saves A Girl From Ending Her Life Not Once, But Twice In One Night. A Hero!

God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, he sends you help when you need it the most. Sometimes, if you’re really lucky, he sends it twice. In the case of this Mumbai girl who tried to end her life twice in one night, her saviour was both her God and her hero.

Syed Nasser Hussain (43), a resident of Mumbai’s Deonar, is being hailed a hero for saving a girl who attempted to end her life not once, but twice in one night.

Mumbai Mirror reports that on Monday night around 8.30, Hussain was on his way home from his store in Vashi, when he spotted a ‘reasonably well-dressed’ girl walking barefoot on the Vashi bridge.

In the last two years, Hussain had managed to stop two girls from attempting suicide. In both instances, the girls had been barefoot too. He quickly made the connection. But the girl had already climbed the railing and was preparing to jump.

“Hussain dropped his bike ran, managing to grab her before she could jump off the bridge to her death.”

But that wasn’t the end of his heroics.

He discovered that the girl, a student of Class XII, was devastated over a heartbreak. Her boyfriend had cheated on her and she had decided to end her life.

Hussain, spent an hour counselling the girl, and then offered to drop her home to safety.

At first, the girl was reluctant. When she did venture her address and Hussain took her there, it turned out to be the wrong address. Finally, after much persuasion, the girl revealed that she lived in Mankhurd with her parents.

However, when they reached her home, there was a lock on the door. The neighbours informed Hussain that the girl’s mother had taken ill suddenly and had to be taken to the hospital.

With a spare key from the neighbour’s, the girl was let into her home. Hussain requested the neighbours to watch over her till her parents came back and then he headed home.

Little did he know then, he would be turning right back.

Intuition is quite a powerful thing, if you listen to it. Hussain felt something amiss in his gut about leaving the girl alone right after she’d attempted to kill herself. And so, he turned his bike around. And his intuition was bang on.

Upon reaching the girl’s home again, he saw that she had locked herself in. With some help from the neighbours, he broke the door open only to find that she had hung herself from the ceiling fan.

After untying her and several attempts of resuscitation, the girl was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital and then Sion Hospital. As of yesterday, she is out of danger and doing fine.

Hussain’s alertness, intuition and kindness managed to save the young girl’s life not once, but twice in one night. Something the girl’s parents will be forever grateful for.

The girls father told Mumbai Mirror,

“Had he not been there, I would have lost my daughter. He saved her twice I can’t thank him enough.”

As for our hero, Hussain has been to visit the girl her saved twice now to ensure she’d doing well. He said,

“I have had long conversations with her dad. She needs to be taken care of. I have told him he must support her to complete her education. She must grow into a confident woman who does not see unfaithfulness of a man as the end of the world.”

He also hopes that the municipal authorities would do something about the growing incidents of suicide attempts from the Vashi bridge. He explained that the lack of proper lighting in the area is an issue that needs to be tackled.

Kudos to this hero!
