After a crazy month of thrilling cricketing action and high drama, we finally had the champions of the Indian Premier League 2019, yesterday. In a nail-biting match against the Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, it was Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, who went on to lift the trophy for a record 4th time!
Though the match was a comparatively low scoring one, it kept the viewers at the edge of their seats and was worthy final from every angle. With Chennai needing just two runs off the last ball, MS Dhoni and his men surely had the upper hand in the final minutes. However, veteran bowler Lasith Malinga, who was having a tough time with the ball, proved too good for Shardul Thakur.
The curly-haired sensation turned himself from a zero to a hero in a matter of seconds as he trapped Thakur leg-before-wicket on the closing delivery. And, it was the blue and golden confetti’s that overshadowed the disappointment of the men in yellow!
Needless to say, Twitter came together to congratulate the Nita Ambani-owned franchise for their incredible achievement. The micro-blogging site was flooded with wishes, memes, and happiness!
