Mumbai Girl Gets Abrupt Marriage Proposal On FB, Scares Guy Away With Over-Enthusiasm!

You know which is the creepiest place in the world? Not a haunted house, not some ghost town, but a girl’s ‘Others’ inbox on Facebook. No, believe me, because been there, deleted that! From “hi swthrt, cute pic” to “wanna be frnzz” to requests for modelling, if you’re a girl on social media, you’ve seen it all! And once in a while, things will progress a little too fast. Like, proposal-on-first-message-fast! But as this girl from Mumbai found out, you can efficiently deal with such creepy requests with a healthy dose of humour!

Anusha Iyer, a girl from Mumbai, recently found a rather… umm… forward message in her Facebook inbox—no fraandship, no “nice pic”, but a marriage proposal right away!

Amazing confidence, no, this guy’s got? Doesn’t believe in wasting time with small talk!

Now, normally, we girls just ignore these messages, but Anusha had had enough. And so, she decided to put her humourous wit to good use and engage with the fella! Not the ring-wala ‘engage’, okay!

And thus began a conversation so effing hilarious and awkward that the guy was left with no option but to run away from his impending nuptials!

Girls, take note, this line of conversation might just help you get rid of any unwanted attention!

The first step in this cray-cray POA was to accept the guy’s message request and his marriage proposal! But of course, Anusha added her own special touch to it, by calling him ‘buddy’ and ‘bro’!

Aww! ‘Buddy’ is already talking mushy things, asking about lunch and all!

Now our groom-to-be was a little perplexed that his hone-wali-biwi was calling him ‘bro’.

Dekho ye sab Game of Thrones mein chalta hoga, yahan nahi chalega!

I remember how in schools, to discourage kids from starting relationships, they would have all the girls tie rakhis to the boys. And then you were bro-sis for life! You could never look at each other in any other way! Looks like he had a similar epiphany!

One thing that you ought to admire the guy for is his respect for consent, which is an elusive concept to most men. He repeatedly kept asking Anusha if she was interested in him or not and even gave her an alternative if she wasn’t!

Ooooh, kaafi smooth!

Tut tut, Anusha! Looks aren’t everything, okay? Dil toh dekho!

Our groom couldn’t have allowed all this ‘ugly’ business to persist, so as proof, he sent forth a pic. No wait, a pick!

Sorry folks, you cannot see the groom before the wedding. Apshagun hota hai!

But the point is, Anusha did see the pic and she had a couple of follow up questions for her future husband. I mean, you can’t be enough careful about such matters these days! Unfortunately, her persistent questions made the guy think she wasn’t interested in him!

At one point, he was this close to cancelling their marriage plans! The horror!

Thankfully, our girl is a pro and managed to handle the situation! Forget handle, she was already setting a date for their engagement! But don’t say congratulations to the happy couple just yet, because our dude was a little perplexed by how fast things were moving!

So NOW you realise it?

Yep, the guy who proposed marriage in his first message wants to meet and talk first! Slowing down finally, are we? But there was no stopping Anusha, who was eager to get marriage off her to-do list!

Unfortunately, her ‘bro’ was a very aadarsh baalak who wouldn’t say yes without getting his parent’s approval!

As Tay-Tay put it, “It’s a love story, baby, just say yes!” But alas, that wasn’t the case here and this love story just wasn’t meant to be! *sigh*

If you’re wondering why this rom-com has ended with such a nail-biting cliffhanger, then sorry! Anusha is still waiting on bended knee for an answer! But something tells me, after ‘brother’, bro isn’t coming back!

You’d think Anusha must do this on a regular basis, replying to these messages in her filtered inbox. Apparently not!

Talking to Storypick, Anusha revealed,

“I ignore a lot of times but this time I couldn’t help it. I mean Who the f*** talks to a random woman and asks about marriage? What was he even expecting?”

I agree!

In fact, Anusha believes this is a fun way to keep the creepiness at bay and have some fun while doing it!

“I know it get’s really annoying when your ‘others’ inbox is filled with random dudes, but when you get the opportunity, just have fun with it.”

Remember though, ladies, do be careful when you do this and avoid unwanted trouble. As for men who go around randomly dropping proposals in girls’ inboxes, here’s your ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan‘ warning!
