Mumbai Bus Staff Saves 5-YO Kid’s Life By Diverting Bus To Hospital, Depositing Day’s Cash

Earlier, the compassionate act of a Pune woman driving a bus for 10 km and bringing people on board to safety after the driver suffered a seizure made us believe that humanity is still alive in the country.

Now, it’s this Mumbai bus driver who is being lauded online for his empathetic and prompt action.

Responding immediately to the crisis, the driver diverted the bus to a nearby hospital after a 5-year-old kid, travelling with his mother, had seizures while on the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport) bus.

According to Mid-day, the bus staff, including the driver, conductor, and ticket collector even deposited the day’s cash they had on them to get the child admitted.

Sharing more about the incident, a woman, Tanvi Gavankar, who happened to be in the hospital during the incident, took to Facebook and shared:

I generally do not write any post based on my experience, but I could not resist myself from sharing this.
I happened to be at #Thakurhospital yesterday at #Shivajipark #Mumbai.
When I was about to leave the hospital around 1.30 pm, I saw a #ticketcollector #busconductor and 2-3 people rushing in the hospital. The #ticketcollector was holding a small child (5 year old) in his arms and a helpless mother was crying. The hospital staff with nurses rushed towards that child with all necessary primary aid. After talking at counter I understood that the kid got febrile seizures (#fits) in the bus while traveling with his mother. The bus driver stopped & vacated the bus and rushed the kid to the nearest hospital. The #ticketcollector and the #busconductor deposited the entire cash which was collected since morning to get the kid admitted (they took this financial risk for unknown family). It was probably not the case that hospital would have asked for admission fee and then treat the kid but it was their pro-active, go-headed decision to avoid any delays in the treatment.
I was stunned for few minutes and was unable to react to the situation. But when I was driving back home, I had multiple emotions and teary eyes. In this fast #pacedlife where we barely have time for our loved ones, these #superheros of our city saved an #unknownlife with all their heart. #Humanityisalive and I firmly believe this! I take this opportunity to thank the TC, conductor, and driver of that bus.”

When the incident came to light, people online appreciated the quick response of the bus staff.

As promised, bus conductor Appasaheb Tulshiram Lohar and bus driver Kishore Vasant Dane were felicitated by the BEST General Manager, Lokesh Chandra.

They will also be rewarded for their compassionate deed.

This is what heroes look like. Salute!
