Accidents and tragedies just break our hearts. But in those troubled times, sometimes, we also witness a glimmer of hope when people from various backgrounds come together and support each other. Because without them, things would be so much worse. One such tragic incident took place in Maharashtra on 16 July and the locals took part in the rescue efforts.
According to The Times of India, yesterday at 11.40 am, a four-storey Kesarbai building in the Dongri area of Mumbai collapsed.

Police officials, civic authorities, fire marshalls and ambulances have been called in to save those trapped beneath the debris and take them to the hospital. But the location has proved to be a deterrent and is slowing down rescue operations. NDTV reports that the area has narrow lanes and a dense neighbourhood. The heavy rains the city has seen the past couple of weeks haven’t made things easier.
So, the National Disaster Response Force, as well as the local residents, have formed a human chain to remove the debris by hand and get to the trapped people faster.

Initial reports suggest that the building was very old and the part that collapsed was built without permission. The police have registered an accidental death case.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased in these difficult times. We sincerely hope that there are no more casualties in Dongri.
