10 YO Mumbai Boy Chases Kidnapper For Seven Minutes, Saves Brother From Being Taken Away

A conscious mind and a fearless attitude are two things one would require to tackle the trickiest of situations, in this gruesome test called life. While most of us take years to develop these qualities, a 10-year-old boy from Mumbai showed us that he had them in-built.

In an extraordinary incident that took place in Mumbra, Thane, a 10-year-old kid chased a kidnapper for 8 minutes and saved his two-and-a-half-year-old brother from being taken away. The chilling episode took place on Friday when the children were playing outside their house at Zarina Apartments.

At around 1.30 pm, they were approached by a burqa-clad woman who made the younger one, her target. After engaging the little one in some play she subtly picked up the kid and began to walk away. Spotting the woman fleeing with his brother, the 10-year-old questioned her for the act. Speaking about the same to Mumbai Mirror, uncle Khurshad Warsi said,

“The area was crowded due to preparations for a marriage function in the locality. At around 1:30 pm, the three children were playing outside their house. The woman first attempted to engage my younger nephew in some play. Then she picked him up and began to walk away. My 10-year-old nephew questioned the woman, to which she replied that she was going to buy chocolates for him.”

Though the woman mentioned that she is taking the kid to buy him some chocolates, the boy kept following her. After tracking her for seven minutes he began to chase the woman who had already started taking fast steps. Narrating the incident, the class 2 student said,

“I kept walking behind her and kept asking where she was taking my brother. When I tried to catch her, she ran faster.”

In the meanwhile, the boy had also alerted his 12-year-old brother to inform the family members about the ongoing incident.

While hounding the woman, the boy made it a point to notice the passers-by about the suspicious activity. It was then when the family members rushed to the spot and rescued the young one. Uncle Warsi added,

“This alerted passers-by and by then my relatives and neighbours rushed to the spot to rescue the child. When she noticed a crowd, she left the boy and fled.”

The entire incident was caught in a private CCTV camera installed in the area. When the Mumbra police were informed by the local residents, they took the help of the footage to identify the kidnapper.

The footage clearly shows the woman walking away with the child while being followed by the courageous boy. Senior Police Inspector, Mumbra police station, Kishore Pasalkar said,

Bravo, young kid. You have proved once again that all heroes don’t wear capes!
