“I Did Not Assault Women”, Says Morgan Freeman In Response To Sexual Harassment Charges

Morgan Freeman is considered as one of the most prolific and respectable actors in Hollywood. He’s known worldwide for his acting prowess, majestic voice and charitable works. However, the movie industry was shocked by a CNN report which had several women charging Freeman of sexual harassment and lewd behaviour.

From reporters on press junkets to production assistants on movie sets, women claimed that they were subjected to physical and verbal abuse by Freeman. As the news spread quickly, the ‘Seven’ actor promptly issued an apology for his unintentionally rude humour. However, now Freeman has come up with a much more detailed statement.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Morgan Freeman has issued a statement supporting the fight against sexual harassment in Hollywood but condemning any and every false report.

“I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday’s media reports. All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.”

Morgan Freeman felt that the jokes he had made to create a more comfortable work environment, were taken out of context and it was never his intention to hurt anyone.

“Clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended. And that is why I apologized Thursday and will continue to apologize to anyone I might have upset, however unintentionally.”

The reports said that Morgan Freeman had made indecent advances towards women and physically harassed them as well. The actor denied all that as clearly as possible.

“I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false.”

There have been multiple allegations against celebs like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, James Franco and many more. And out of all those allegations, the only one who has been proven innocent is George Takei. So, it’s undoubtedly hard for everyone to believe Freeman’s denial because of that ratio. However, let’s wish that justice takes its course and soon.
