MP Weaver’s Family Forced To Sell Beedis After Aamir Khan Doesn’t Help Them As Promised

In 2010, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor had visited a poor weaver’s house in Madhya Pradesh’s Chanderi as a part of their promotional venture for the film ‘3 Idiots’. Aamir had bought a Rs 6,000 saree from the weaver, Kamlesh Kori, but paid him Rs 25,000.

He and Kareena shared a meal with the family and the actor also gave Kamlesh a gold ring with his initials ‘AK’ inscribed on it. Further, he gave him in writing that whenever the family would need his help, Aamir Khan would come to their aid.

Here’s a video from the incident:

According to Dainik Bhaskar, Aamir had given Kamlesh his contact number, to be contacted in case of any emergency. He had also promised to open a showroom in Mumbai for Kamlesh wherein weavers from the village can sell their products. However, recently Dainik Bhaskar got in touch with the family from Chanderi, who lives in a village named Pranpur, and what was revealed was heartbreaking.

Kamlesh Kori lost his life to the second wave of the pandemic, leaving behind his wife and three children. His wife is now 50-years-old and sells beedis to survive. Their 21-year-old daughter is mentally challenged. Their 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son had to leave school due to financial constraints.

His wife, Kalama, revealed that for all these years, help didn’t arrive. Whenever they tried to contact Aamir Khan using the contact number that was given to them, they weren’t able to reach him. She also expressed that she has grown old and is unable to work hard to earn enough money to sustain the family.

She hopes that Aamir Khan will fulfil the “duty of friendship” and help them so that her kids can go back to school and her 21-year-old daughter can get medical aid.

We hope that the family gets the help they need.
