25 Movies With Such Unpredictable Twists It Will Make You Go ‘WTF’

I’m sick of watching boring, predictable movies and I’m sure those of you who clicked here agree with me. So one Saturday I decided to binge watch movies which would give me something to think about and thus came this list.

These are movies with such powerful twist endings that, it will make you question what’s real and what’s not. So over the coming weekend, spread out like a couch potato and let these movies blow your mind.

1. Gone Girl

If you are a guy and almost swore off women after watching this movie, then raise your hand. This woman basically went bat-shit crazy and made his life a living hell. The end will blow your mind and it will come out of nowhere! What she gave him in return for cheating on her, will teach guys not to fuck with girls anymore.

2. Kahani

Okay, so I have to hand it to Vidya Balan for pulling this off. First a pregnant woman, wife of Mr Bagchi, a widow and later the only thing that stood true was one of these labels. The end left me speechless and with a Bollywood movie, that’s a real feat to achieve.

3. Karthik Calling Karthik

Another Indian flick with a good plot twist. So in the start I was just like, ‘Yeah this movie is pretty sub power, with the blind guiding the blind’. Little did I know they’d be the same damn person. The climax was good and the way it build up was really commendable, I just need to know why the doctor waited so long to declare the news.

4. The Sixth Sense

So many dead people, it’s not even funny. So the plot will keep you hooked on till the end. He’s a child psychologist and the movie revolves around two of his patients Vincent and Cole. Both of who see dead people, but he only helps one. He helps him stop being afraid of ghosts and at the same time tries to fix his marriage. The end will leave you stunned and a little bit unfinished.

5. Old Boy (Korean)

It’s a Korean movie and it’s so fucked up that I can’t even wrap my head around it. The end is the absolute worst but it’s so horrifying that it’s worth it. It’s about this man who’s been imprisoned for 15 years, blamed for his own wife’s murder and then falls in love with the worst option ever. And even after knowing her identity, continues to go on having a relationship that is inappropriate on all levels.

6. The Usual Suspects

First off, the narration and flashback used in the movie itself will give you the satisfaction of having watched a damn good movie. All I’m going to give away is, mistaken identity and the question, ‘Does he exist?’ should not be taken lightly. Watch the movie and follow the story of Keyser Soze and you won’t regret it.

7. The Fight Club

‘The first rule of fight club is that you never talk about fight club’. More than the twist (Which is amazing), watch the movie for the simple reason that it’s made a mark in history. But god, it starts off as well as it ends. The narrator is really conflicted and there are so many intricate details that could have easily given away the end, but you don’t realize it till it hits you.

8. The Departed

If you manage to venture on Reddit, don’t search for ‘The Departed’, it will ruin the end. But it’s safe to say that if we had to choose the most popular answer by Redditors, this would be it. And for good reason. It’s some of Leo’s best work, revolving around spies and organized crime. Even if that’s not your genre of choice, watch it just for the twist.

9. The Game

Think Race and then add class, good direction and some awesome thought process. This movie is about two brothers, trying to escape the past and building a future, but scared that history will repeat itself. For a moment they make you believe that’s exactly what happened, until it all unfurls.

10. Primer

This one’s the biggie with a cult following. If you like time travel this one is a must watch. It’s a little bit difficult to keep track of but when you realize the truth about future Aaron and present Abe, it will all fall into place, so just hold on and wait for the end.

11. Psycho

Another classic, will always be remembered by the famous shower scene. It’s quite twisted and if you pay close attention to the scene when Marion and Norman are eating dinner, you might get a slight hint of what’s in store for the climax.

12. The Prestige

This movie is going to engulf you in a world of magic and mystery. If you’re looking for a classier act than ‘Now you see me’ then try this one. The deceit and revenge will keep you munching on that popcorn and wanting to know how it ends!

13. Shutter Island

I was blown away by this movie. The storyline is so interesting to start with, an investigation of sorts. And when the truth is revealed it takes you by complete surprise. It’s a movie that will keep you guessing right till the end.

14. Donnie Darko

What would you do if a giant rabbit told you that the world was ending? Well similar was Donnie’s dilemma. It’s a psychological thriller with a kickass starcast. It’s the one movie that should make it to everyone’s list, even if it is just to see Jake Gyllenhaal in action.

15. The Mist

It has such a tragic end that makes you go like WTF. You expect the end of the world and you get something completely different. And when the mist clears you wouldn’t know how to react. This movie left me mind-fucked after it’s climax.

16. Memento

The Hollywood’s Ghajini is pretty on fleek. It’s got all the components of an amazing thriller. You need to first watch this movie to understand the narrative structure, because a lot of it is in reverse and then you need to watch it again to figure out when and what actually happened.  Finally, third time’s the charm.

17. The Crying Game

This was the spot on amalgamation of minimalism and effectiveness. It doesn’t even give you the resolution you want to see, instead towards the end the plot thickens. It’s executed really well and worth your time for sure.

18. Primal Fear

Yeah, it’s another psychological thriller. You can’t decide whether Aaron is innocent or not. The movie is basically about a court trial to see who murdered an Archbishop. The constant tug of war between innocent and guilty will keep you guessing, but the end dialogue is what will stun you to silence.

19. Vanilla Sky

It starts off as you’re thinking ‘Here comes another psychological thriller’, until it enters sci-fi category. It’s one of it’s kind for sure because here’s where you’ll learn about something called an Oasis Project. I won’t give away much but the end was quite unexpected and that’s the number one reason for you to watch it. There is an original Spanish version of this as well, you can opt for that instead of the English version, it’s way better.

20. Clue

There are three endings to this movie. Yup, I’m pretty sure you’ll be intrigued enough to watch now. It’s based on the board game and during the movie you’re constantly looking to see if a player is missing or not, at least I was. Just to find out who was the real murderer.

21. Arlington Road

This movie will change your perception of ‘safe’. It’s a terrorist and FBI plot, but it plays out very differently. This time it’s not about the chase, this time it’s about the fall guy and it’s really unnerving. When you watch the last scene, it is guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.

22. Seven

It’s a cop and criminal chase but it’s planned perfectly to the T. Seven stands for the Seven Deadly Sins and how this serial killer has murdered every victim to show one sin being eliminated. He’s caught by the two main detectives, but asks them to see his two other victims. And it gets gruesome.

23. Lucky Number Slevin

This movie has everything, mob boss, mafia, chase, money, kidnapping and a whole lot more. It’s one hell of a whirlwind, but the ending to the beats of ‘Kansas City Shuffle’ will make you wish there was a sequel.

24. Now You See Me

Personally, I love this movie. I mean an amazing star cast and the story is full of mystery. I love their cockiness and the way they think they’re playing everyone, but really they are the ones being played. The ending will clear up all the magic and show you the real picture, so stay put.

25. Vertigo

Vertigo will give you some serious height phobia. I mean the whole charade is so well thought out that it makes me want to scream in frustration. After this movie, I’m perpetually scared of Bell Towers and I’m sure you will be too.

Are you searching on Netflix already? Good.
