There are some movies that make you laugh, make you cry bucket loads of tears or simply shock you, those are good movies. But then there are some movies that are running in your mind even after you see the credits rolling, now those are brilliant movies. Weirdly, the movies that stay with you are either on a philosophical level or psychological level, we’re going to talk about the latter today.
The movies that fuck you up and make you go like , ‘Am I a crazy person?’ or ‘Can this happen to me?’.
1. Edward Scissorhands
He’s a man with scissor hands, who’s been blamed for a crime he didn’t commit. It’s a movie which will make you feel for Edward. It’s a weird mismatch that sort of stays with you.
2. Silence of the Lambs
You’ve got a psychopathic serial killer, an FBI agent chasing another psycho killer. It’s gruesome and titillating and it’s going to make you squeal in horror, even just thinking about it. I couldn’t sleep a wink for a week, because I was in a really dark place after watching this.
3. Sweeney Todd
It’s revenge with a lot of bloodshed. It’s his attempt to claim justice from the one source of justice, the judge who framed him. He’s a barber who isn’t afraid to shave too close.
4. The Dreamers
I was grossed out to another level and if anyone is absolutely against the idea of incest, you’re better off not watching this movie. But a friend recommended this to me and I couldn’t help but watch it till climax and God, it left a lasting impression.
5. Blue Velvet
From finding a human ear to exposing a whole damn scandal, Jeffry walks into the dark side of suburban America and gets a little too involved for comfort. He’s just a boy like you and the crap he goes through is nail biting.
6. Perfume
This movie is downright disturbing. This dude makes brilliant scents (perfumes) but he doesn’t have a scent of his own, so he becomes obsessed with acquiring the scent of young womanhood. From there begins the journey of a serial killer.
7. The Nightcrawler
Crime journalism in the middle of the night is a whole different ball game. It’s a story about a man so desperate for work that he becomes a night crawler, chasing police sirens in the middle of the night to get footage worth big bucks, until it goes south.
8. Requiem for a Dream
This story revolves around 4 characters dealing with their own kind of addictions. It just makes you feel lonely, sad, as if you can’t escape. Their life gets destroyed because of their habit and the mother’s bit of the story is the hardest to watch.
9. A Clockwork Orange
It’s a bunch of robbers, who go beyond the norm of just that, they’ve raped and murdered, until the main gang leader is caught. The guy is so fucked up that they take him from prison and admit him in a hospital hoping to cure his psychosis. This movie is sure to fuck you up.
10. Black Swan
I literally almost walked out of the movie twice, but a friend of mine gave me a tub of cheese popcorn and made me sit my ass back down. It was so dark, that I couldn’t get the white swan part at all! If you want to be surprised into a dark corner of your mind, go watch it.
11. Antichrist
It’s an endless sexcapade. The woman’s infant child falls out of the window while the couple is doing it and after that she sort of spirals off her hinges. It’ll make you want to take a vow of celibacy, like right now.
12. Shaitaan
This is what a horrible plan looks like. These 4 friends are high on cocaine and drive over two people on the road, now they need to get money to pay off a police inspector, so they fake their own kidnapping. So many people died in this movie, that I can’t even begin to count and FYI, it was based on a true story.
13. LSD
I hated this documentary, I mean I seriously hated it. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t disturbing or you won’t think about it for weeks to come. It’s as real as it gets and there is no fancy cinematography here, it’s the truth.
14. Shanghai
It’s a 7.3 on IMDB, which I think is reason enough to watch it, but the plot is really interesting. It’s the truth buried under political drama and conspiracy. In the end , no one is a winner, because even if you write a book about it, it gets banned. Truth too close to home.
15. Ugly
The darkest is saved for the last. What happens when your pride and ego get in the way of something you love, it kills everything. It’s a chase of a kidnapper, when ignorance was the real culprit.
