Ever since the quarantine has begun, instances of wildlife being found and spotted on the roads in cities have increased. The most recent instance is that of a monitor lizard reportedly spotted in a house in Delhi’s Chattarpur area, as reported by Times Now. IPS officer HGS Dhaliwal tweeted a picture that has now sent people into a frenzy. Check it out:-

According to HT, monitor lizards are enlisted as a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. They are generally shy and stay away from humans. Their venom too has a very mild effect on humans. However, if provoked, these reptiles will attack back, just like any other animal would do.
A Twitter user replied explaining the lizard’s occurrences near the Aravallis.
Must be from the Chattarpur region near the Aravallis. They are pretty common in my native village which is also on the foothills of the aravallis in Gurugram.
