We all know how movies, TV shows, and books affect our psychology to some extent. Although they are made purely for entertainment, people often take inspiration and try to adopt them into their own lives. Like this well-planned robbery in Brazil which looks inspired by Netflix’s hit show ‘Money Heist’.
According to The New York Times, around 30 armed robbers entered Criciúma in southern Brazil in a convoy of 10 vehicles when the city was about to sleep. Holding people hostage, the highly trained assailants attacked a local bank leaving the city in total panic. The gunmen also opened fire injuring at least two people including a security guard and a cop.

However, after holding the city captive for almost two hours, they escaped into the night with a hefty amount of cash. But before leaving, they bombed the bank, sending a huge load of money flying into the air.

This prompted people to rush down to the streets to collect the cash helping the gunmen to escape from the spot after the mega robbery.

Officials have not yet clarified how much money was stolen. Several videos from the brazen attack were shared online.

Samira Bueno, the executive director at the Brazilian Forum of Public Safety, said, “It’s curious to see how unprepared the security forces were to deal with this incident. Clearly, it was the work of a group that is highly organized and specialized.” She added that the attack looked “ripped from the scene of a movie.”
Investigators and police forces have been deployed to search for the gunmen. Apparently, there have been several cases of crimes earlier that were inspired by popular movies. What do you think of this well-planned heist?
