Mizoram Guy Proves Height No Bar, Successfully Becomes Army Officer

The minimum acceptable height for potential officers to get inducted into the army is 157 cm or 5.15 feet, according to the criteria set by the Indian Army. For many short-statured people, this requirement would shatter their dreams of joining the army. However, that wasn’t the case for one person.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, a man from Mizoram named Lalhmachhuana became an army officer despite his short height. He has been inducted into the Indian Army’s Artillery Regiment and is now known as Lieutenant Lalhmachhuana.

Lalhmachhuana hails from Mizoram’s capital Aizawl. A native of Aizawl was quoted saying, “He could be short but his spirit outsizes that of many others.”

Lalhmachhuana was successful in becoming an Army Officer due to the relaxations given to the tribals from the Northeast. For them, the minimum acceptable height is 152 cm or 4.9 feet.

The CM of Mizoram took to Twitter to personally congratulate Lt. Lalhmachhuana for his achievement. He also shared pictures of him from the passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun. Have a look at his tweet here:

Many took to the comment section to congratulate the man and wish him well.
