Kerala Woman Reported Missing 11 Years Ago Found Secretly Living With Her Neighbour

When people say truth is stranger than fiction, it doesn’t sound very convincing. But this real-life incident from Kerala is proof that the saying is quite true. In February 2010, an 18-year-old woman named Sajitha went missing from Ayalur village in Palakkad.

For 11 years, her parents tried to find her but to no avail. According to The Indian Express, she has now been found living just 500 meters away with her lover Alinchuvattil Rahman. More surprising is the fact that the man’s parents who live in the same house have been unaware of the same.

Nenmara Police Station House Officer Deepa Kumar A said, “Nobody knew about their affair. In any elopement, both persons go missing.”

The whole case started unraveling 3 months ago when Rahman himself was reported missing by his family. Earlier this week, his elder brother Basheer spotted him out of the blue and it was discovered that the couple was staying in another village.

Deepa Kumar A added, “Their story sounds unusual, but we took the couple to Rahman’s house and they told us how Sajitha had lived secretly in a single room for all these years.”

The woman used to stay in the room, wash her clothes there, watch a small TV using earphones and went out the window to relieve herself. The man never let anyone in his room as he didn’t want his family to find out and object to their relationship. His brother revealed,

“Sometimes he behaved like a mentally deranged person, would turn violent if someone tried to get into his room. He would even take his food in to eat… During the day, as everyone was at work, Rahman and Sajitha would have the house to themselves.”

A local court has ruled that the couple can stay together. What do you think of this bizarre happening? Tell us.
