11 Misconceptions Non-Delhi-ites Have About Delhi-ites

“Ye Shehar Nahi Mehfil Hai”. Delhi is not just a city-it is a way of living. The rich cultural heritage and the beautiful nightlife adds to Delhi’s beauty. But what truly makes Delhi a beautiful city is the Delhi-ites with their dynamic personalities, fun-loving and outspoken nature, their carefree down-to-earth and go-getter attitude. But there are several stereotypes that almost all the Delhi-ites have to face from their fellow Indians which are far from true.

If you are a Non-Delhi-ite, you are totally wrong if you think-

1. That Delhi-ites are verbally abusive. Rumour has it that we love inserting abuses into everything we say but it is not true at all

What? You still think that we abuse unnecessarily? You bloody BH**C**D.  Tu Baahar mil.

 

2. That we are way too liberal about SEX

Sex may not be a taboo in Delhi as much as it is in other parts of the country but that doesn’t mean that Delhi-ites don’t  think twice before doing it with someone.

 

3. That we are just a bunch of rich spoiled brats

The “Bigde Baap Ki Bigdi Aulaad” image of Delhi-ites is a result of  generalization. While there are ones who  live off their parent’s wealth, there are others who struggle to make it on their own.

 

4. That all Delhi Guys are Sexual Predators

Just like all Americans are not racists, all Germans do not hate Jews and all Muslims are not terrorists, all Delhi Guys are not Rapists.

 

5. That Delhi-ites are a bunch of Drug Addicts

 

People often think that we, Delhi-ites remain high around the clock and are always either stoned or drunk. Again, NOT TRUE.

 

6. That Delhi Girls are Fashion Obsessed Bimbos with Fake Accents

 

The number of shopping bags is inversely proportional to the grey matter in their brains. Fake accents are a part of their life and Sarojnee is their Second Home. Get over these stereotypes already.

 

7. That we are way too materialistic

 

We may go crazy over Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Prada, but we know that there is a life beyond these things. Being classy doesn’t always mean being materialistic.

 

8. That we are a bunch of crazy, irresponsible party animals

When it comes to partying, no one can raise the roof quite as well as Delhi-ites can. We know how to party but more importantly, when to STOP. We know our limits and can enjoy without harming ourselves or others around us.

 

9. That we are wannabes obsessed with western culture

 

People often think that Delhi-ites try too hard to be cool. Listening to EDM, Coldplay songs,watching Game of Thrones and Christopher Nolan movies-even when they cannot get head or tail of it. While some are like that, there are many who are naturally cool and hip.

 

10. That Delhi girls are crazy manipulative bitches

Delhi Girls can be the sweetest girls if you are nice to them but if you mess with them, they can actually give the “MEAN GIRLS” a run for their money.

 

11. That we are a bunch of shallow, disrespectful people with no morals

 

Contrary to what you must have heard, we Delhi-ites have “Maa-Behen” at our homes. We respect the ones who respect us but at the same time we do not take crap from anyone.
