A Telangana Minister Sped Past A Road Accident Victim Without As Much As A Second Glance!

When you are an elected representative of the people, your duty towards your constituents comes before all else. A vote in your favour is a sign of trust. The people trust that you have their best interests at heart and that you will do right by them.

I would not expect an elected representative to be the epitome of integrity or cast them as a ‘doodh se dhula’ individual. However, it goes against even basic human decency when you speed past an accident victim in dire need of assistance without as much as a second glance.

Azmeera Chandulal, the Telangana Minister for tribal welfare, along with a convoy of cars sped past an accident site where 3 victims were hit by a speeding truck. A picture of the minister’s convoy speeding past has since gone viral on the internet.

The accident occurred in the Jayashankar Bhupalapally district in Telangana. 30-year-old Chary died on the spot while two of his friends, Gopi and Sateesh, suffered severe injuries.

The youth who clicked the picture had a lot to say to the minister for lacking even a sense of common courtesy.

“The village falls under his Mulugu assembly constituency and he should have stopped the convoy, got down from his vehicle and called on the injured. But, he had no such courtesy.”

Speaking to the media, the minister tried to give an explanation for his actions.

“I was busy attending a call from my relatives when my convoy went past the accident spot. In normal circumstances, I would have got down and called on the accident victims but I was in a hurry then.”

Once again, I don’t expect an elected representative of the people to work tirelessly each day in selfless service of the people who so wholeheartedly trust them to have their best interests at heart.

But at least show some basic human decency when the adversity of your constituents is staring at you right in the face!
