Minister Of Road Transport Plans To Replace Horns With Indian Music, Sparks Memefest

I admit that the non-stop honking of vehicles on roads can get a little annoying at times. But if given a chance, would you want that honking to be turned into Indian music?

Well, Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari plans to impose a law wherein vehicles will use the sound of musical instruments like the tabla, harmonium, etc. instead of horns, reports Times Now.

Claiming that he has been studying sirens used by ambulances and police cars, Gadkari said, “I want to put an end to these sirens. An artiste composed a tune of Akashvani and it is played early in the morning. I am thinking of using that tune for ambulances so that people find it pleasant. It is so irritating, especially after ministers pass by, and the sirens are used at full volume. It also harms the ears.”

He went on to add, “I’m planning to make a law that the horns of all vehicles should be in Indian musical instruments so that it is pleasant to hear. Flute, tabla, violin, mouth organ, harmonium.”

The minister’s statement sparked a massive meme-fest online. Many shared pictures of concerts and imagined how Indian roads would be like if this law is actually implemented. Have a look!
