‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ Trailer: From Mumbai Slum To Delhi, A Boy’s Journey In Search Of Answers

After ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ took over the nation by storm with its social message on open defecation, it’s time for Bollywood to take another try at working in favor of social issues. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ trailer has a lot of things going on.

It primarily tells the story of the shatter-proof bond of a mother and son from a slum who are subjected to the wrath of life.

The trailer begins with a fun note where Kanhu (son) and Sargam (mother) are seen sharing a playful bond. A doting son Kanhu, often opts for odd jobs (like selling condoms) to contribute to his mother’s income.

Everything is seen going happy and cheerful until the story takes a drastic turn. One fine morning, Sargam on her way back from defecating openly finds herself in the clutches of a man who ends up raping her, turning her life upside down.

Heartbroken at the misery of his mother, Kanhu pens a letter to the Prime Minister of India asking ‘How would you feel if something like this happens to your mother?’

The film progresses to show how the letter goes unattended lying on a stack of files covered in dust. Kanhu then decides to visit the Prime Minister on his own with his friends. An officer played by Atul Kulkarni also helps Kanhu there.

Decked up with some drama, romance, and several reality checks, overall, the film, looks promising.

Will the Prime Minister listen to Kanhu’s plea? Will justice be served to Sargam?

We can only know the answers to these questions once the film releases!
