Now You Can Opt Out Of Catering, Call For Baby Food Or Enjoy Fries On Indian Railways

When you’re in college, every penny counts, especially when you’re travelling with your buddies. Sadly on most Indian trains the meal price is included in the ticket price. So even if you don’t want to eat the food, you have to pay for it.

The Indian Railway is introducing optional catering in two select trains for a 45 day trial: Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express and Mumbai Central- Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, thus deducting our ticket fare!

If you opt out of the meal, it will slash Rs.340 on your 1AC Rajdhani ticket and Rs.295 on your 2AC/3AC Rajdhani ticket. Similarly, Rs.260 on the executive class ticket and Rs.220 on the chair car Shatabdi ticket will be slashed.

They’ve also started a Janani Seva scheme in which new mothers can get hot milk, hot water, baby food etc at 25 railway stations
